The Rainbow river runs into the Withlacoochee river which is also great for kayaking and less crowded. Wildlife is spectacular, lots of turtles, shorebirds, fish, otters, gators, they get bigger as you go further from the spring head.

3 Μαρ 2024 · While staying in Ocala in late February, we visited Rainbow Springs State Park, which is near Dunellon, FL. Part of the property is an old zoo from the 1930s. There are winding walkways and several man-made waterfalls, which are fed by water from the crystal clear Rainbow River.
Rainbow River is a Florida state park, so you can visit without getting in the water. The water is crystal clear & beautiful, so I would recommend swimming. You can walk to the spring from the parking lot & stay in that area, or you can rent a canoe or kayak from one of the rental companies.
1 Αυγ 2023 · This is our favorite river to kayak, we rent houses and camp at the Florida State park every single year, but we go after Labor day up to the mid of June, after that it's pretty busy. The river is almost 6 miles, with the main spring head to KP hole being the clearest and busiest part of the river.
