4 Αυγ 2021 · The lamb that you purchase will join more than 9,000 lambs in 4-H projects across the state this year. You will join other 4-H members in devoting many hours over several months to the proper care, feeding and management of a potentially award-winning lamb.
Show Preparation. Once you have put in the work, it is time to take your lamb to the show. The big event you have been prac-ticing for is finally here, but there are tasks to be done in the days leading up to the show. While preparing to leave, here are some things to keep in mind.
The lessons learned in showing and raising livestock are invaluable. However, it can feel very intimidating to begin. This guide is a broad overview at how to prepare for showing market lambs. All exhibitors are encouraged to ask questions as they grow through the program.

Start by knowing the ten essentials (plus three key tips) when starting your show lamb project. 1. Two Sheep Are Better Than One. Sheep are flock animals and thus like the company of other animals.
Modern showmanship techniques are to: show lambs slick sheared or in very short fleece; show standing-up, with the lamb braced at all times; and show the lamb from both the left and right side. The more traditional style, which is still seen around the PNW, is to show a lamb in a 60-90 day fleece.
