Rammed earth construction is the process of ramming a mixture of natural aggregates, like gravel, sand, silt and clay into a formwork to create solid walls. When the earth is dry the formwork is removed to reveal striking monolithic walls.

For a sturdy wall, these aggregates are mixed in the proportions of 30 to 40% clay soil and 60 to 70% gravel, sand, and fines before ramming.
