28 Οκτ 2023 · Tasting Notes. Nose: The nose certainly smells all of 16 years old. There are great oak and cigar wrapper notes a-plenty. Spiced fruit (think of spiced cherry preserves) abound with hints of chocolate in between. The nose isn’t all that sweet, as excessive maturation is bound to do. But it’s also not a bitter smelling tannin bomb either.

14 Οκτ 2024 · This bottle of Old Grand Dad 16 was almost everything I wanted in a bourbon. I honestly loved it, but I felt like the finish was a bit shorter than I wanted it to be and the fruit content wasn’t as varied as I thought it would be for 27% rye.
Following my standalone review of Calumet Farm 16-year-old bourbon, I wanted to compare it to the previous release, the Calumet 15 year. They are assumed to be sourced Barton distillate. In addition to an extra year of aging, the 16 also has a proof point on the 15: 106 vs 105 proof.
25 Μαΐ 2022 · I just picked up my bottle of Calumet Farm 16 Year Old bourbon yesterday, and then I saw Mike Veach's review of the 15 year old today. In his review of this bourbon, he states: "Another year in the wood would have made this whiskey bitter." While Mike has an excellent palate and has forgotten….
