11 Αυγ 2023 · If you’re short on time, here’s a quick answer to your question: The price paid for raw sheep wool varies quite a bit based on the wool’s quality but generally ranges from $10-20 per kilogram for medium grades up to $25 or more per kilogram for very high-quality fine wool.
Raw fleece commands much less money than washed fleece. For example, in 2018 the general price range for a pound of raw wool was between $10 and $25. A pound of washed wool, however, ranged from $35 all the way to $64. Wool is graded into different categories based on texture.
Unwashed (Raw) Wool! The sheep work very hard, sorting through each fleece (aka skirting) to be sure you only receive the best part of each fleece. Our sheep are encouraged to live happy, carefree lives so please know that the fleece we offer are rarely from covered or coated sheep.

So it may even have some little pieces of plant substance left behind - this is because it's a raw, natural product that hasn't been processed yet!
