Reason DAW Review. Reason 12 is the most recent version of the Reason DAW. Reason 12 added two new tools to Reason, Mimic (a sampler) and Combinator 2 (an update on a classic). Reason 12 also added the ability to use Reason in HD. You can read a more in-depth review of Reason 12 here.

All three can be used either standalone or as a DAW, the main difference being the number of devices included. Suite is an all-you-can eat bundle, whilst Standard omits more esoteric instruments, effects and sound sources.

Reason 12 introduces Mimic, a new sampler instrument that focuses on quick results, experimentation and performance. In its simplest, default mode (Pitch) you can drop in a sample (or record in directly) and immediately play it back from the keyboard.
Version 11 introduces the most radical development in Reason's long history: the Reason Rack now runs as a plug-in within other DAWs.
Screen 1: Mimic’s Slice mode and Play Thru features are the fastest way to chop samples in Reason. Reason 12 is now out in the wild, with two major new devices: the Mimic performance sampler and the second‑generation Combinator.
