6 Οκτ 2017 · The aim of this guideline was to produce recommendations for the management of adult lupus patients in the UK that cover the diagnosis, assessment and monitoring of lupus and the treatment of mild, moderate and severe active lupus disease, but which do not imply a legal obligation.
The purpose of this document is to present and discuss the rationale of the recommendations on the general management of SLE, specifically, clinical follow-up, general therapeutic approach, healthy lifestyles, photoprotection, and training programs for patients.

Lupus and pain. Pain in lupus can be come from joints, muscles, tendons or nerves. The cause of the pain as well as how much pain can change over time. What causes my pain? Arthritis (say “ar-THRY-tis”) is when you have pain, stiffness, swelling, and warmth in your joints.
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic systemic autoimmune disease of variable severity and course, characterised by a tendency for flare (figure 1).1 In SLE, both innate and adaptive immune responses are involved.
Joint pain is common in lupus, especially in the small joints of the hands and feet. The pain often moves from joint to joint. Joint pain, swelling and stifness can be the main symptoms for some people with lupus. In most cases, lupus is unlikely to cause permanent damage or change the shape of joints.
