  1. Pka's apply to synthesis and mechanisms. Here's my take on how... Say you want to make a compound and you need a grignard or organolithium to make some carbon-carbon bond. Both of those are incredibly strong bases that will react with acidic protons on your molecule before they'd act in the way you intend them to.

  2. Does anyone know of any online free or cheap software that can roughly calculate the PKA of an organic compound? I'm working with a lot of synthetic cannabinoids that have a protonatable nitrogen and need roughly their PKA values.

  3. It helps a lot if you can describe the molecule using the name or ACS codes... then you can search for info online. To find pKa info, I check wikipedia first (they have a ton on almost all the common stuff). If they don't have it, then you want to search for a Merck Index or CRC Handbook of Chemistry reference.

  4. 18 Ιουν 2010 · To calculate the Isoelectric point of an amino acid or peptide (or protein, if you are daring), you take the pKa of the carboxylic acid (between 2 and 4 usually) and the amine (9-11), add them, and divide by 2 for the case of an amino acid with no side chain that has a pKa value.

  5. 3 Ιαν 2017 · One can select a certain class of compounds to get an overview of the pKa range that they cover, or one can search for specific molecules, which can be entered by name, molecular formula, or structure by using the integrated structure editor. The operation is best illustrated with a simple example.

  6. 29 Οκτ 2015 · Due emphasis is given to the most used classical methods, potentiometry and ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy, and to a separation technique, capillary electrophoresis, which nowadays is strongly...

  7. 7 Ιουλ 2024 · This pKa calculator helps you find the pKa from pH with the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation or with acid dissociation constant (Ka) values.
