There is a trick actually, you can approximate -log (2*10 -5) by doing 5 - 0.2 = 4.8 (real answer is 4.7). Basically 2 represents n and 5 represents m so you can approximate with the formula m - 0.n and I remember learning this from UWorld I think. So for example if pH= 4.7, you do 10-4.7. I get that.
Does anyone know of any online free or cheap software that can roughly calculate the PKA of an organic compound? I'm working with a lot of synthetic cannabinoids that have a protonatable nitrogen and need roughly their PKA values.
7 Ιουλ 2024 · This pKa calculator helps you find the pKa from pH with the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation or with acid dissociation constant (Ka) values.

pKa - The pKa value is the negative base -10 logarithm of the acid dissociation constant (Ka) of a solution. The quantitative behavior of acids and bases in solution can be understood only if their pKa values are known.
We know that HCl (pK a -7) is a stronger acid than HF (pK a 3.2), so the equilibrium for the reaction lies on the product side: the reaction is exergonic, and a ‘driving force’ pushes reactant to product. What explains this driving force?
