The farther north in Red Deer you get the seemingly sketchier it gets, and the infrastructure seems to worsen as well, exceptions to this are Deer Park and Clearview on the East side. Rent/housing is a bit pricier on the south end but the buildings are generally newer and better maintained.

A good place would probably be Lancaster or deer park or rosedale, stay away from lower Fairview, east view and anywhere downtown. If you want some really good advice find a place outside of red deer and save yourself the trouble of living here
Downtown patio is a huge plus too, especially if you want to meet new people. It's also close enough to smalls towns and big cities. One of the downsides here are if you're not into trails and parks, there's really nothing else to do around here, besides going to either Bower or Parkland mall...
