When it comes to club penguin I lean on the younger side of the player base so I very obviously prefer New Club Penguin. But if you like the older club penguin for nostalgia's sake and other reasons Journey is the way to go.
I like CPL for now. Cpr WAS the best. Right now I would say newcp, most active and has all the games if you’re okay with AS3. Honestly feel like hypopenguin is cause you can play the mini games and tap to text on your phone without a browsers gamepad, the problem is hardly anyone's coming on.

As for recommendations, reposting a comment from the megathread: For AS2, (2008-2012) CPJourney is your best bet. It has consistent parties every month, weekly updates including pins and newspapers. CPLegacy has been slowly declining and randomly goes offline for weeks at a time, and barely updates anymore.
