Sound annoyance is "a feeling of displeasure associated with any agent or condition [related to sound] that is believed to affect adversely an individual or a group". [1] Impact on health and well-being. Annoyance implies a negative factor on an individual's well-being and comfort.
Excessive noise can cause annoyance; in addition research shows it increases the risk for IHD and hypertension, sleep disturbance, hearing impairment, tinnitus and cognitive impairment, with increasing evidence for other health impacts such as adverse birth outcomes and mental health problems.
