The urban environment is composed of several audible sources: Traffic (road, rail, and air), industrial facilities, civil construction and social activities (parties, fairs and open air markets, and residential noise). These all contribute to the conversion of the soundscape in noise pollution.
1 Σεπ 2020 · By examining three sources of inter-individual variability (reported difficulties with hearing, switching skills, and mind-wandering propensity), our study shows that there might be different cognitive mechanisms by which noise interferes with learning, and causes annoyance.
Important sources for environmental noise exposure are road, railway and air traffic, or building sites. Noise exposure can also occur through other sources such as wind turbines, and leisure activities such as listening to loud music or other audio content including participation in e-sports (video and computer game competitions).
14 Φεβ 2013 · Research work on the adverse effects of noise on annoyance in adults is well documented in Western Europe, but there is a knowledge gap concerning this type of research in Central and Eastern...
1 Απρ 2004 · Conventional methods of assessing annoyance, typically based on A-weighted equivalent level, are inadequate for low frequency noise and lead to incorrect decisions by regulatory authorities.
