The Renault 4CV (French: quatre chevaux, pronounced as if spelled quat'chevaux) [5] is a car produced by the French company Renault from August 1947 through July 1961. [2] It is a four-door economy car with its engine mounted in the rear and driving the rear wheels.

The Renault 4CV participated and competed in the 1956 Mille Miglia driven by Jean Rédéle and co-driver Louis Pons. Jean Rédéle created the well-known brand Alpine in 1955 after falling in Love with the handling of the Renault through the Alps at the Coupe de Alps.
