The statutory form for a Montana concealed weapon permit can be found at Montana Code Annotated § 45-8-322. Montana residents who want to know if their concealed weapon permit is valid in another state must check with the specific state in which they want to carry a concealed weapon.
A permit to carry a concealed weapon may be revoked or its renewal denied by the sheriff of the county in which the permittee resides if circumstances arise that would require the sheriff to refuse to grant the permittee an original license.
NEW permits are processed by appointment only. Fill out and print application and bring application to appointment, along with $50, cash, check or credit card, your MT ID/Drivers License and proof of firearm training.

An application to renew a Concealed Weapon Permit can be made up to 90 days prior to the permit's expiration date. Applicants with expired permits must reapply and will be charged the new application fee, plus an additional $5.00 finger printing fee.
*You must renew your Transferred CCW permit prior to your expiration date on your other Montana County Permit. We do not accept transfers from other states, you must go through the NEW application process.
