7 Απρ 2021 · In a class-wide peer tutoring format, any risk of discrimination or stigmatisation of children with SEND is lowered (Scruggs, Mastropieri, and Marshak 2012). Research on peer tutoring has indicated academic and social gains for students with SEND in various subject areas and grade levels.
We find that tutoring programs yield consistent and substantial positive impacts on learning outcomes, with an overall pooled effect size estimate of 0.37 SD. Effects are stronger, on average, for teacher and paraprofessional tutoring programs than for nonprofessional and parent tutoring. Effects also tend to be strongest among the earlier grades.
Research consistently demonstrates that tutoring interventions have substantial positive effects on student learning. As a result, tutoring has emerged as a promising strategy for addressing COVID-related learning loss and affording greater educational opportunities for students living in poverty.
