4 Ιαν 2022 · If you choose to claim a credit for your foreign taxes in 2023, you would be allowed a credit of $700, consisting of $600 paid in 2023 and $100 of the $200 carried over from 2022. You will have a credit carryover to 2024 of $100, which is your unused 2022 foreign tax credit carryover.
A resident alien's income is generally subject to tax in the same manner as a U.S. citizen. If you are a resident alien, you must report all interest, dividends, wages, or other compensation for services, income from rental property or royalties, and other types of income on your U.S. tax return.

If you are not a U.S. citizen, you're considered an alien. You're considered a resident alien for the EITC if you have a green card, or you lived in the U.S. for more than a certain number of days. For more information and important exceptions, see Publication 519, U.S. Tax Guide for Aliens.
