The Board is the K-12 policy-making body for academic standards, curriculum, instructional materials, assessments & accountability. The SBE adopts instructional materials for use in grades kindergarten through eight.
Providing wait time is as simple as pausing for 5-15 seconds after a question is posed, before accepting an answer or calling on a student. This decreases the likelihood of getting an "I don't know" or an incorrect answer and the number of students volunteering information is likely to increase.

When teachers ask students ques tions, they typically wait less than one second for a student response. Further, after a student stops speaking, teachers react or respond with another question in less than one second.
