As a young man of twenty eight he brought honour to his native Nigeria by writing Things Fall Apart (1958), the first novel of unquestioned literary merit from West Africa. Critics tend to agree that no African novelist writing in English has yet surpassed Achebe's achievements in Things Fall Apart.
The great Nigerian writer Chinua Achebe has written about various aspects of the Igbo community of Nigeria in several of his novels. This dissertation work discusses the various religious, cultural and linguistic aspects of the Igbo Community through a detailed study of his novel Arrow of God.
Chinua Achebe is Africa's foremost modern novelist. The titular poem is a salutation in honour of Achebe. Several other poems in the volume explore certain of the issues covered in Achebe's best known works.
