In 1987 Ty Inc expanded to designs beyond the long-haired plush cats and dogs from the 1986 series. During 1987 the 1986 tush tag dated plush designs were retired but transitioned to 1987 designs as follows.
These were the first run of 1986 cats and are identifiable by their embroidered tush tags with a 1986 Copyright date and airbrushed points of their ears, face, paws, and tail.

Peaches the cat was first introduced in the 1988 Flyer along with Angel #1001, Ginger #1005, Smokey #1007, and Licorice #1009. This was the first series of long-haired cats after the retirement of the 1986 plush cat line.
