My TV requires an external digital converter box to interpret than broadcast antenna. I don't watch much broadcast TV, so I am looking for something basic -- identify the 5 networks, covert the signal, and ideally also have a DVR.

I just bought an open box 65 inch S92C for half the price from best buy. $1760 canadian. No issues at all. Great. Came with the original box and all of the accessories.
I am trying to get them via a converter box on an old TV without any luck. Does anyone know if using a digital TV increases the signal at all? Has anyone compared the two options for them selves? I am considering purchasing a small digital TV just for the extra channels like Comet and the others.
