19 Σεπ 2023 · Rhomboid major is a broad quadrilateral muscle that originates from the spinous processes of the second to second to fifth thoracic vertebrae (T2-T5). The muscle extends obliquely in an inferolateral direction to insert into the medial border of scapula, between the inferior angle and root of the spine of scapula.
2 Ιαν 2023 · Rhomboid Major. The rhomboid major is an extrinsic muscle of the shoulder. It is located deep to the trapezius, and inferior to the rhomboid minor. Attachments: Originates from the spinous processes of T2-T5 vertebrae. Attaches to the medial border of the scapula, between the scapula spine and inferior angle.
28 Ιουν 2023 · The rhomboid major is a paired superficial muscle located in the upper back of the human body. The major and minor rhomboids are collectively called the rhomboids, which form the superficial layer of extrinsic back muscles with the trapezius, latissimus dorsi, and levator scapulae.
Function. The rhomboid major helps to hold the scapula (and thus the upper limb) onto the ribcage. Other muscles that perform this function include the serratus anterior and pectoralis minor. Both rhomboids (major and minor) also act to retract the scapula, pulling it towards the vertebral column.
20 Δεκ 2022 · The rhomboid major is a muscle located in the back that connects the scapula (shoulder blade) to the vertebrae of the spine. Along with the rhomboid minor muscle, it works to keep the scapula pressed against the thoracic wall (the back of the chest) and to move the scapula towards the spine.
Function. The rhomboid major and minor are a group of deep intrinsic shoulder muscles that together with the sternocleidomastoid, trapezius, pectoralis muscles, latissimus dorsi, and serratus anterior, form the shoulder girdle.
21 Οκτ 2024 · Function. Retracting the scapula, which means helping it slide upward and inward to rotate the glenoid cavity so the shoulders can drop. Stabilizing the scapula in place so it can work as an anchor for the rest of the shoulder and upper arm muscles as they work to move the arm.
