7 Ιουν 2021 · Rhythm is the pattern of sound, silence, and emphasis in a song. In music theory, rhythm refers to the recurrence of notes and rests (silences) in time. When a series of notes and rests repeats, it forms a rhythmic pattern.
Rhythms in Notation. In most music, rhythmic durations are measured and timed within the framework of a steady beat. To put it another way, rhythms are created by subdividing the beat into shorter durations or by adding them together into longer durations.

NOTATION. Composers and musicians have a standard set of rules that apply to counting and reading rhythm on the written page. There are several symbols that represent units of time that can be straightforward or manipulated in order to create an interesting sound or texture.
How to Read Rhythm. Our rhythm notation is proportional. Each basic note value is either double or half the length of another note value. We use different kinds of noteheads and add stems and flags (beams) to show these different note lengths.
