The left hypochondriac region contains components of the stomach, top of the left lobe of the liver, the left kidney, the spleen and tail of the pancreas, parts of the small intestine and components of the transverse and descending colon.
The region named the right hypochondrium exists anatomically, but is almost totally under the chest wall. In clinical situations, the parts of the abdominal wall just below the right and left costal margins are referred to as the right and left hypochondriac regions respectively.

Left Hypochondriac Region: This contains the spleen, large/small intestines, left kidney, pancreas, stomach, and tip of the liver. Right Lumbar Region: You’ll find portions of the ascending colon, small intestine, and right kidney in this region.
The nine regions are smaller than the four abdominopelvic quadrants and include the right hypochondriac, right lumbar, right illiac, epigastric, umbilical, hypogastric (or pubic), left hypochondriac, left lumbar, and left illiac divisions.
