20 Μαΐ 2024 · What Is Ringworm in Dogs? Ringworm is caused by a fungus called a dermatophyte that grows on the outer layer of skin, invading the skin, hair follicles and nails. It mainly affects areas on the body such as the face, ear tips, tail, paws and bellies. Puppies, seniors and those with weakened immune systems may see more widespread infections.
