Robert Reiner (born March 6, 1947) is an American actor, film director, screenwriter, and producer. As an actor, Reiner first came to national prominence with the role of Mike "Meathead" Stivic on the CBS sitcom All in the Family (1971–1979), a performance that earned him two Primetime Emmy Awards. [1]
He began his directing career with the Oscar-nominated films This Is Spinal Tap, Stand By Me, and The Princess Bride. In 1987, with these successful box-office movies under his belt, Reiner founded his own production company, Castle Rock Entertainment; along with Martin Shafer, Andrew Scheinman, Glenn Padnick, and Alan Horn.
