The rumor I’ve seen come up a few times was that person was supposed to be Amanda, but her and Arnie didn’t get along so well. So, when Rob dumped Arnie for not going with the flow, we got both Brandon and Amanda, which seemed to be what Rob was going for. 2 men, 2 women, with 4 varying personalities and perspectives.
I quit listening years ago when the show started to seem phonier than before, like they were clearly playing characters and their bits were repetitive. Since Arnie left they've become exactly the type of show they used to lampoon.
