Robert Shaw was an American conductor. He was born in Columbus, Georgia, and studied at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. Shaw was conductor of the Cleveland Orchestra from 1951 to 1969, and of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra from 1970 to 1988.
