26 Νοε 2022 · Classic cradles are propelled by human muscle strength with a rocking motion where the amplitudes and frequencies are intuitively selected by the child’s caregiver, whereas mechatronic cradles perform movements automatically without regard to the parameters of human motion.

28 Δεκ 2022 · Cradle rocking can naturally link a baby’s two stages of life: when the fetus is rocked in the womb by the mother’s motion of locomotion and the period of independent walking. A crucial component of a cradle’s design involves the safety requirements to prevent falls and entrapment.
15 Φεβ 2020 · We assessed whether gentle rocking movements can facilitate the transition from wake to sleep, increase sleep spindle density and promote deep sleep in elderly people. We assessed self‐reported comfort using a pilot protocol including translational movements and movements along a pendulum trajectory with peak linear accelerations between 0.10 ...
21 Ιουν 2011 · We show that lying on a slowly rocking bed (0.25 Hz) facilitates the transition from waking to sleep, and increases the duration of stage N2 sleep. Rocking also induces a sustained boosting of slow oscillations and spindle activity.
The cradle's hood was a 16th century development, intended to protect the baby's face from flies, sunlight, and the evil eye. Already in the second century CE, Galen mentioned controversies about rocking.
