The first examples of this airframe came from aerospace giant Rockwell Aircraft. Their model 112 first flew in late 1970 and continued to evolve through a number of engine changes.
To at least somewhat mitigate the performance difference, Commander is scheduled to certify a turbocharged variant of the 114B, called the 114TC, by mid-May. Another improvement already available is a unique air conditioning system.
