The airplane is powered by a horizontally opposed, six cylinder, direct drive, normally aspirated, air cooled, fuel injected engine. The engine is a Lycoming IO-540-T4B5 and is rated at 260 horsepower. Fuel is supplied to the engine by two integral fuel tanks, one in the forward section of each wing.

This two-door, tricycle gear aircraft sports a high amount of wing dihedral and a cruciform tail configuration, and with numerous updates in both performance and comfort, the 114B has a leg up on its predecessors.
