Sundarbans The Sundarbans are the world's largest mangrove forest, in Bengal on the coast of the Ganges Delta by the Bay of Bengal. The region is the main habitat of the Bengal tiger.

The Bengal tiger or Royal Bengal tiger is a population of the Panthera tigris tigris subspecies and the nominate tiger subspecies. It ranks among the biggest wild cats alive today. It is estimated to have been present in the Indian subcontinent since the Late Pleistocene for about 12,000 to 16,500 years.
In West Bengal, Sundarban Tiger Reserve is in a leading position to conserve and monitor the endangered Royal Bengal Tigers. The tigers are increasing in numbers in STR. In Sundarbans, tigers occupy 1895 sq. KM in 2022 (AITE 2021-22).

In addition to serving as a symbol, this exquisite species is essential to preserving the biological harmony of the Sundarban ecosystem.
25 Απρ 2017 · The national park is located adjacent to the similarly named Sundarban Reserve Forest in Bangladesh. The National Park, covered by dense mangrove vegetation, currently houses one of the largest Royal Bengal tiger populations in the world, and also supports a great biodiversity of rare and unique flora and fauna of all kinds.
Located on the delta of two grand rivers of India, Ganges and Brahmaputra. Sunderbans National Park was declared as a tiger reserve under Project Tiger in 1973 by Government of India and was given the status of the national park in 1978. It is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in India too.
