It’s not essential but it is canon and you do get value watching it. There is things you would miss by skipping the movie. You can also read the JJK 0 manga for a slightly worse experience(imo the movie expanded on the manga version and is a bit better) but you still get all the story notes and it’s still a solid read.

While it works well as an action movie, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is also surprisingly effective as a horror film, diving even deeper into aesthetics inspired by the genre than the anime.
Yes, it was a movie based off 4 chapters of content and felt like it. I also personally felt like they should have taken more liberties extending scenes especially the action at the end. Besides Gojo and Yuta all the fights were basically just hype character cameos.
