8 Φεβ 2021 · Ingredients in rubber compounds are a large group of components, including curing agents, accelerators and vulcanization activators, antioxidants, plasticizers, fillers and special additives (blowing agents, dyes, etc.). The list of ingredients in phr (parts per hundred rubber) called rubber compound recipe.
Bonding Fillers to Rubber – Bifunctional Organosilanes use two groups: Trialkoxy Silyl Group – builds stable siloxane bonds (filler modifier) Rubber Active Group – reacts with polymer during vulcanization and develops covalent filler-rubber bonds.
Rubber mixing is a process that produces a rubber compound from raw materials, blending, softening, homogenizing, and dispersing the ingredients by applying mechanical shear forces (and the resultant heat). In general, NR has a tendency to increase its viscosity during long storage.
Rubber compounding or formulation refers to the addition of certain chemicals to raw rubber in order to obtain the desired properties. The well-known chemicals are crosslinking agents, reinforcements, anti degradants and colorants.
A rubber compound is a raw rubber mixed with another chemical substance that will increase the potential and performance of the rubber. A perfect example of this is vulcanisation, the chemical added is sulphur that creates crosslinks which hardens and improves the elasticity of the rubber.
Rubber compounding is the complex, multidisciplinary science of selecting and blending the appropriate combination of elastomers and other ingredients to meet the performance, manufacturing, environmental, and cost requirements for rubber goods made and used in commerce.
