After a concert was evacuated due to pyrotechnical fire, it was revealed that Stringer was actually Rubberband Man. Rubberband Man served the rest of his time in jail and came out as a reformed man. He was now an ally of Static and helped fight crime in Dakota, on top of his flourishing music career.
This eventually leads to an issue of DC Comics Presents where the three stretching heroes are teamed up with Superman to fight a one-shot villain who also has stretching powers.
