14 Μαρ 2017 · 1. The General Rubric. This type of rubric defines characteristics of a successful artwork. It is “general,” meaning it does not define specific criteria for each project. Instead, it might define characteristics such as “technique” or “craftsmanship” you are looking for in each completed project.
Here is why I think art rubrics are important, how to use them and how to create a rubric for your art lessons.
The NC STEM School/Program Implementation Rubric is built around the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction’s (NC DPI) “STEM Attributes,” which describe characteristics of a high quality STEM school. Ten Attributes apply to elementary and middle schools; the 11th Attribute applies to high schools only.
This program provides a standard definition of quality STEM implementation using the STEM School Progress Rubric as the framework and backbone of the application process for implementing the 5 Overarching STEM Principles.
I developed this art grading rubric for middle and high school art projects. It allows student artwork to be evaluated in 5 areas - Elements of Art, Principals of Design, Creativity/Problem Solving, Craftsmanship, and Effort.
The NC State Board of Education adopted these principles and quality indicators to serve as the standard measure of quality STEM programs in the state. The STEM Schools of Distinction Program uses the Progress Rubric to recognize exemplary STEM schools or programs.
