The law of reflection is very simple: The angle of reflection equals the angle of incidence. Definition: THE LAW OF REFLECTION When we see ourselves in a mirror, it appears that our image is actually behind the mirror.

The law of reflection states that the angle of reflection equals the angle of incidence: \[θ_r=θ_i \label{law of reflection} \] The law of reflection is illustrated in Figure \(\PageIndex{1}\), which also shows how the angle of incidence and angle of reflection are measured relative to the perpendicular to the surface at the point where the ...
9 Μαρ 2022 · Reflection is a phenomenon in which a wave traveling through a medium reflects at the interface of another medium. In optics, reflection takes place when light is incident at the interface of the two media. The ray of light returns to the first medium without any change in velocity.
If a ray of light could be observed approaching and reflecting off of a flat mirror, then the behavior of the light as it reflects would follow a predictable law known as the law of reflection. The diagram below illustrates the law of reflection.
The law of reflection states that the angle of reflection equals the angle of incidence— \({\theta }_{\text{r}}={\theta }_{\text{i}}\). The angles are measured relative to the perpendicular to the surface at the point where the ray strikes the surface.
23 Μαρ 2022 · The law of reflection states that the angles of an incident ray and reflected ray are the same as each other and are in the same plane as the normal. The law describes the behavior of light reflecting off of a very smooth surface.
In this chapter, we look at the reflection of light, how light interacts with mirrors, and how mirrors can be used to form images. To understand reflection and image formation, we will use a model of light based on rays and wave fronts – this is a much simpler model than the electromagnetic wave perspective.
