Auto-attacks, also known as basic attacks, are attacks which are periodically fired off automatically during combat. While abilities are distinct from auto-attacks, the two systems do interact with each other.
You can set it up in the settings to automatically use all your abilities after one click on an enemy. You can also just find enemies that are aggressive to you, gear up, and turn on auto retaliate if you want XP.

Auto from a staff is around 2.3* as much damage as an auto from a wand (2,566 vs 1,111 base). You could 4taa with just dual-wield and do more damage than people not using 4taa but even the non-continuous method in OP's video is easy enough to use over just dual-wield 4taa for far more damage. From a lot of DPS guide I've heard that you should use an auto attack after Death's swiftness/Sunshine/Berserk. Mage auto is simple enough since you can just press the ability, but is there a way to do the same for range/melee rather than just clicking on the enemy with your mouse?
