My opinion is that as long as the first flight is not more than 1/2 hour late, you can easily make it to the next plane. All you are doing is going from one terminal to another, and there is an Aerotrain between the terminals.
Answer 1 of 10: Hi all, I'm traveling to Punta Cana in March from Boston. I over looked a detail on my flight itinerary and I only have a 1hr 2min layover at IAD in DC before I connect to my flight to PUJ.
A layover of less than 1 hour to go from one domestic flight to another at IAD is perfectly sufficient. The only reason why you would want to choose an itinerary with a longer connection time is if you want to get something to eat between flights.
5 years ago. Considering that the gate to gate transfer time is 5-15 minutes, as long as you get off the first plane in a timely manner, you are fine. And planes aren't 1 hour late that frequently. And there are hotels near IAD, so it's not some random place and if it's all one ticket and their fault (not the weather), your hotel might be free ...
