The RV Industry Association is an accredited standards developer by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). ANSI is a non-profit association that establishes procedures and guidelines to create recognized minimum safety standards for products used by both consumers and industry.
The low voltage electrical requirements of the National Electrical Code NEC (ANSI/NFPA 70) found in Article 551 were used for conversion and recreational vehicles in the late 1980's and early 1990's.
As a benefit to members and the overall RV industry, the RV Industry Association maintains handbooks that provide greater depth and detail regarding the adopted codes and standards for manufacturing RVs and Park Model RVs.
