Worksheet 1 What is the Sacrament of Confirmation? 10 mins approx. Aim: to explain that the Sacrament of Confirmation is the next important step in their journey to becoming full members of the Church. 1. Set the scene by talking about the Sacraments they have made so far. This will put the children at ease and make them feel comfortable to talk.
Confirmation impresses the candidate with a special character. Through this sacrament, the candidates are enriched by the gifts of the Holy Spirit, are bound more perfectly to the Church, and are strengthened in faith.

Grade 6 or age 11 has been established as the normative year for the Sacrament of Confirmation, beginning in 2021. For older children who have not been baptized, recommended preparation is the RCIA process adapted for young people. Please call the Office of Evangelization & Catechesis for more information.

Only then can our young Catholics understand why Confirmation is so essential. The first step in the process is easy enough – ask the students, “What does it mean to be confirmed?”.
