Saint Nektarios of Aegina, is the most widely known of Greek Orthodox Saints of the last two centuries. He was born in October 1st, 1846 in Selybria in Eastern Thrace (now in Turkey). He was one of seven children of Dimosthenis and Mpalou Kefalas and at Holy Baptism was given the name Anastasios.

Nectarios of Aegina [1] (Greek: Νεκτάριος Αιγίνης; 1 October 1846 – 8 November 1920), Metropolitan of Pentapolis and Wonderworker of Aegina, is one of the most renowned Greek saints, venerated both in the Eastern Orthodox Church and the Eastern Catholic Church.
One of the most visited sites on Aegina is the church of miracle healer Agios Nektarios (Saint Nectarios) and the monastery of Agia Triada (The Holy Trinity) that is located on a higher level overlooking the church.
The Monastery of Saint Nektarios in Aegina. In 1904 AD founded a women's Monastery of Holy Trinity in Aegina, of which he personally took over the administration, after resigning from the Rizario School. Since 1908, Saint Nektarios lived in a small house near the monastery.
His monastery in Aegina is one of the most renowned shrines in Greece to this day. While there are hundreds of saints whose sanctity has been declared over the centuries, there are few who enjoy universal veneration and popularity as intense as the veneration of St. Nectarios has become.
With his enthusiasm, they began searching for a place to build a monastery, and eventually ended up in a ruined monastery – dedicated to the Zoodochos Pigi and demolished in 1834 by a Bavarian decree – in Aegina.
