The siege of Jerusalem lasted from 20 September to 2 October 1187, when Balian of Ibelin surrendered the city to Saladin. Earlier that summer, Saladin had defeated the kingdom's army and conquered several cities. Balian was charged with organizing a defense.

Made of 16,000 pieces of intricately carved wood, adorned with ivory and ebony, it was widely acknowledged as a pinnacle of Islamic design and woodcarving.
The copper, delicately enamel-coated and fired at 900 degrees, achieved a stunning glass-like finish, echoing the precision of its historical predecessors. "For 300 years, no one dared to attempt it. We've revived it in its original form," Ugur says.
