It connects the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Sustainable Development Goals. It is designed for teachers across the world who are looking to find the best ways to engage students in learning about human rights.
Ask students to read and discuss the quotes and to work out what the theme of today’s lesson is. Answer: human rights. Put learners into small groups to make their own definition of ‘human rights’. Elicit feedback as a group (2 mins). Then get whole class feedback and try to reach a consensus.
Lesson Overview. Over two lessons students will be introduced to the concept of ‘Human Rights’ and the strong link between rights and personal responsibility.
