19 Φεβ 2024 · For 35 years, the new Santa Paula Police Department (SPPD) Chief Don Aguilar has worked for the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office to pursue his goal of becoming a police chief. Santa Paula is a city of about 33,000 residents of which over 83% are Hispanics.
Chief Aguilar is a seasoned and well-respected law enforcement professional who brings a commitment to public service and a focus on professionalism to the Santa Paula Police Department (SPPD). Chief Aguilar has served as the City of Santa Paula’s interim chief of police since November 7, 2022.

Chief Aguilar has served as the City of Santa Paula’s interim Chief of Police since Nov. 7, 2022. Before joining SPPD, Chief Aguilar served for more than 35 years with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office (VCSO) with assignments in Patrol, Custody, Administration, Major Crimes and Narcotics.
