Symptoms in people are localized to the skin and include marked itching, reddening, and rash. In healthy people mange is a transient infection which typically resolves on its own once infected pets in the household are treated. In individuals with a compromised immune system, infection may be prolonged and dificult to treat.
The main clinical signs include burrows, erythematous papules, and an allergic type skin reaction with intense, generalised pruritus. Occasionally, patients are asymptomatic [8]. Onset of the symptoms in a host with no previous infestation is delayed and occurs at 4 to 6 weeks’ post-infestation [9].
