  1. Southwestern Bell was established as Missouri and Kansas Telephone Company in 1882, and was renamed Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in 1921 and again as Southwestern Bell in 1964. In 1999, the SBC Global Network's logo was added to the side of the logo, which received a new wordmark.
