3 Αυγ 2015 · Hi all. I recently acquired a Yamaha Exciter 135 with a SBT engine. I believe it's the 1200 non pv. The engine has about 18 days left on the warranty from the previous owner. I've read TONS of threads about SBT motors, and what can I say, some of what Ive read has me nervous.
When I worked at the seadoo dealership SBT supplied all of our replacement engines and we never had problems with them and they do have a 1 or 2 year warranty that covers anything. If you search online you will find both positive and negative reviews about them.

Have heard nothing but horror stories over the years. I use there parts and gaskets due to cost but would never use a motor. Where are you located?
25 Φεβ 2011 · There are many owners with SBT engines that have not had significant problems. And there are lots of SBT rebuilds that have had issues. Note that SBT offers one level of engine rebuild quality, with two levels of warranty.
26 Οκτ 2005 · It came with issues. Previous owner states that it has a new SBT motor in it which was run for about 1 hour and then left to sit for over a year. They do have the paperwork to show the SBT motor which was changed out under warranty for a previous SBT motor that was purchased.
9 Ιουλ 2005 · This is the second SBT engine that crapped out the same way, only the last one (2 years ago) lost the PTO cylinder. Diagnosis then was lean condition. I have been out of town, but I plan to pull the engine and look at the piston to determine if it was too lean.
