South Carolina provides direct support to students pursuing higher education through a number of need-based and merit-based scholarships and grants funded through the South Carolina Education Lottery. Students must be South Carolina residents to receive state-funded financial aid.
To apply for financial aid, start by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.studentaid.gov. A portion of Education Lottery revenues are used to fund tuition assistance for technical college students.

The application window for the South Carolina National Guard College Assistance Program for the spring and summer 2025 semesters will open at 12:01 a.m. Nov 20, and close at 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 15.
Scholarships for SC Residents. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions offers a number of merit scholarships to help make college more affordable. The State of South Carolina also provides the lottery-funded HOPE, LIFE and Palmetto Fellows Scholarships to qualified residents of South Carolina.
