I’ve been looking at several different websites and all I find are several different pros and cons and it makes it very confusing on where I should get my first set of armor from. I’ve looked at Black Knight Armory and Medieval collectibles which have very cheap armor but makes me worry about their quality and if they’re legitimate.
For a starting body armor kit I HIGHLY recommend Bokalo Aluminum. It weighs WAY less than mild or stainless, and around the same as spring steel. For the SCA it is much more than adequate. For helmet, Clang or again, Bokalo, although Bokalo has de-listed his helmets page... or Ironmonger for an inexpensive starter helm. Or a lot of places.

I started fighting in a 14ga steel half-plate armour kit. Breastplate, pouldrons, tricep-to-wrist arms, thigh-to-shin legs, leather and steel gorget, and a matching helmet. I couldn't move for the life of me.
